At Physicians Vein Clinics, our commitment to patient care extends far beyond our clinic walls. Recently, Dr. Mia Miller returned from a medical mission trip in Tela, Honduras, where she dedicated her time and expertise to those needing treatment for venous insufficiencies. This marks her third year participating in this impactful initiative.
Treating Patients with Expanding Access to Chronic Venous Insufficiency
In just one week, five physicians treated an incredible 585 patients using ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy to address chronic venous insufficiency. Care was prioritized based on need, beginning with the most severe cases—from patients suffering with open wounds to those with large, painful varicosities.
Beyond hands-on treatment, the experience also included days of collaborative learning. Physicians from across the United States came together for lectures and journal clubs, sharing knowledge and advancing their expertise in venous care.
Community Impact and Support Through Global Vein Care Outreach
A truly special part of the mission was the involvement of local school children, who volunteered their time to assist with translation. Their support helped bridge communication gaps and brought an added sense of community to the work being done.
All medical supplies used during the mission were generously donated by companies to the Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation, making it possible to deliver care to those who otherwise may not have access.
Long-Term Results of Chronic Venous Insufficiency Treatment
Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Miller shared how meaningful it is to not only treat patients in need, but to also witness long-term impact:
“It felt wonderful to treat those in need, and learn from doctors from all over the US, and to see patients come back annually with healed wounds and improved quality of life. I am so grateful to have participated for my third year in a row, and I am very grateful for Physicians Vein Clinics’ continued support!”
Physicians Vein Clinics is proud to support Dr. Miller and this ongoing mission. Efforts like these reflect our core belief: that high-quality vein care has the power to truly change lives—no matter where in the world it’s delivered.
