At-home remedies and showering after Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation, are two questions that seem to pop up a lot from our patients. Today, we have Dr. Chester here to answer these burning questions.
Q: Can I shower the night after having an EVRF?
A: After an EVRF procedure we recommend waiting until the morning after your procedure before taking off your graduated compression stockings to shower. It is ok to remove graduated compression stocking(s) to shower, just be mindful to put your graduated compression stocking(s) back on after showering and continue to wear them as instructed by your vein specialist.
Remember Physicians Vein Clinics recommends to
Wear stockings around the clock for 48 hours (sleep in them for 2 nights)
Wear stockings during waking hours for 5 more days (7 days of stockings TOTAL)
Q: Are there any at-home remedies to help with varicose veins?
A: Leading a healthy lifestyle and following a healthy diet can help prevent varicose veins. Our veins are happy when we are active or when our legs are elevated. Walk frequently and elevate your legs when you can. If obligated to sit or stand for long periods, consider wearing graduated compression stockings while doing so. We encourage our patients to be mindful of what they put into their bodies, limit foods high in fat and sodium, and increase foods with vitamins that reduce inflammation and promote optimal circulation.
