Vein Symptoms

Vein Disorders are caused when blood doesn’t flow properly through the Vein back to the heart. The pooling of blood in that Vein causes it to swell, leading to discoloration and discomfort. Larger Veins become Varicose Veins while smaller veins are known as Spider Veins. Because most Veins lie deep below the skin’s surface, not all Vein Disorders are visible to the naked eye. This is why it is so important to see a doctor if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Leg aching
  • Heaviness
  • Muscle cramping
  • Leg fatigue
  • Restless Legs Syndrome
  • Ankle swelling
  • Itching and burning
  • Skin discoloration
  • Ulcers of the skin
  • Eczema to the lower legs
  • Phlebitis

Vein Treatments

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate both varicose veins and spider veins. It involves injecting a solution directly into the vein, which causes the blood to clot and the vein to become scar tissue and collapse. The typical treatment lasts approximately 20 minutes, depending on the size of the targeted area. The spider or varicose veins should fade away within a few weeks, and the scar tissue will fade over time. To completely eliminate the targeted veins, you may need additional treatments spread out over several weeks.
