Laser Treatments for Veins in Legs

In. Out. And On With Your Life.

Spider Veins are like Varicose Veins but smaller and closer to the surface. Often, they are red or blue and look like tree branches or spider webs with their short, jagged lines. They can be found on the legs and face and can cover either a very small or very large area of skin. Spider Veins can be caused by the backup of blood from larger veins. They can also be caused by hormone changes, exposure to the sun and injuries.

Spider Vein Causes

Spider Veins, also called telangiectasia or angioectasias, are similar to Varicose Veins, but typically smaller. They’re called Spider Veins because they can sometimes look like spider webs. Spider Veins are tiny blood vessels under the skin and they can appear on legs, thighs, ankles or, in some cases, the face. Generally, they’re red, blue or purple.

They can be caused by:

  • Age
  • Obesity
  • Injury
  • Sun Exposure
  • Prolonged Standing
  • Hormones
  • Hereditary Factors

Spider Vein Symptoms

Spider Veins are caused by venous insufficiency, which is a medical condition that prevents the proper circulation of blood in the lower extremities. In extreme cases, there may be a serious underlying cause, such as a blood clot, so it’s important to have a professional examination.

In most cases, Spider Veins are simply a cosmetic problem and don’t present any symptoms. However, some people may experience the following symptoms:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Throbbing
  • Burning
  • Cramping

Spider Vein Treatments are non-invasive or minimally invasive and include Sclerotherapy and Laser Procedures.
